This course, offers your team the practical applications of fluid power involving pressure, flow, and force with understanding of the symbols used to construct circuits from schematic diagrams. Hydraulic system components such as pumps, actuators, reservoirs, fluid conductors, and valves are examined. Participants will also be exposed to more complex elements of hydraulic design. They will become more effective in the installation, adjustment, and troubleshooting of industrial hydraulic systems.

Course Aims:
This course introduces participants to hydraulic system maintenance and service practices.
They will learn basic troubleshooting procedures to follow when hydraulic systems malfunction. Identify the important general maintenance practices that apply to the entire hydraulic system; list the procedures for changing hydraulic fluids; list the basic procedures for maintaining hydraulic system reservoirs and describe the basic procedures for maintaining a hydraulic system.
The course is designed to raise the knowledge and understanding at a more advanced level ensuring a greater effectiveness in the workplace relating to technical decision making and management of systems.

On completion of this course candidates will:
• Know the various pump control systems in current use.
• Know the importance of manufacturers' data and following correct installation, commissioning and test procedures.
• Know the importance of effective maintenance techniques.
• Know the procedures to follow to effectively manage fluid power systems.
• Know the cause of failure in hydraulic systems and the logical process involved in fault diagnostics.
• Know the function and operation of a greater range of components.
• Know the requirements of health and safety linked to risk management.

10. Understanding pressure checks

c. Differential pressure
11. Understanding flow in the system
a. Pump wear — effects of contamination, heat and pressure
b. Slow cylinder movement
c. Sluggish motor response
d. Erratic cylinder operation
e. Heat & pressure drop
12. Troubleshooting directional control valves
a. Pressure leakage – manual & solenoid control
